Saidi Workshop with Amala Gameela

Learn the famous Raks Al Sayya (stick) dance of Upper Egypt, also known to be the most important folkloric dance of Egypt, with Amala Gameela.  

She is one of the few dancers who has studied this traditional dance in depth and captured its authenticity.  You are invited to explore the Egyptian culture from the melodic mizmar do the deep tabla beledi with swaying galabayyas.  

Enjoy sizzlin’ hot Saidincombos in a new, fun choreography, whether you’re new to Saidin technique, or ready to attempt double stick movements.  Amala will use traditional Saidi music and go over the specific instrumentation, rhythm, historical background, and appropriate costuming.  Some dance experience recommended.

Please bring a cane and or stick(s) to dance with.
